Paducah & Louisville Railway has reported to a federal agency that a broken rail caused the October 2012 derailment in southwestern Jefferson County.
The findings will be used in a Federal Railroad Administration investigation into the derailment, which an agency spokesman says will be completed in the next few weeks.
